This colourful painting of Burano is exciting and fun. Learn blending, floating, scumbling and more. Learn how to stitch photos together to make a scene which is pleasing to the eye. Burano is a small fishing island which forms part of the city of Venice. Burano's brightly colored houses line its boat-filled canals. The tradition of painting houses in this manner is said to relate to the island's heritage as a fishing village—the bright colours made it easier for returning fishermen to find their homes in the thick fog of the lagoon. It is also said that the Burano residents favor the bright paint as a well of marking where one property ends and another begins. Some say it was to ensure husbands did not find their way into other wives bedrooms when they returned from the sea. In this workshop you will learn how to add colour quickly by using the fluid paint Free Flow. We will also use calligraphy pens to enhance your painting. Lesrn how to stitch photos together to make an interesting collective painting.

MIXED MEDIA - KING PARROT ON SUNFLOWER
19th JULY
The Sunflower Thief is an acrylic painting which used highly pigmented paints along with texture paste and stenciling techniques. This piece is great fun. Painted on a large canvas for terrific modern effects. This little guy comes to my vegie patch each day for a feed of sunflower seeds and green tomatoes. Just could not resist painting him in action.
